What is a Small Group?
The roots of the United Methodist Church can be traced back to the formation of small groups, formerly known as Societies and Classes. They were established for members to support one another on their journey towards salvation and “to watch over one another in love”.1
In essence, a small group is a gathering of 3 to 15 individuals who come together regularly to nurture their faith and deepen their love for Christ. Small groups play a vital role in cultivating discipleship, enabling members to more effectively share the love of Christ with the world.
Why Join a Small Group?
Joining a small group is a pivotal step in fulfilling the mission of the United Methodist Church: "to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world." These groups offer a nurturing environment for deepening your faith and equipping you to become a more dedicated follower of Christ. Small groups also provide a wonderful sense of community, support, friendships, and opportunities for spiritual growth.
